It was early morning the sun rising over the horizon when Toimi rose from his recent activity, once again having sated her lust she had told him to fetch her some water. Lemon water that he now poured a small amount of the drug he was going to sedate her with, into. A muscle relaxant that would take effect within the hour.

Sitting up on the edge of the bunk, Chai washed back the drink and headed to the restroom.
Minutes later she slipped into some more clothes and after a meal prepared by Toimi she sat down and started to eat. With the meal consumed she returned to the cabin only to slump on the bunk, her head spinning, yawning, tired?

Xyulov helped him to bring her up to the main deck. “I’ve washed down the deck and its bloody slippery so watch it moving her forward.” “Hold her while I pour some alcohol into her.”
The rum poured into her made her cough as she tried to focus her eyes and maintain her balance albeit with little success.

David had made it onto deck and with Sean helping him he slid the air mix tanks into position before testing the coms unit. “The new radar sensors will help me keep a good eye on where you are when you dive.” “It won’t be too long this time, I’m testing out the adaptor but also the improvements we’ve made to the radar sensor array, make sure you record all the results.” Sean nodded as he watched David move to the side of the boat and then backflip into the water.

Sean moving to where the main display monitor was located glanced over the water to the boat near them. He had been seen by those onboard and he could see the female staggering around ahead of two males? She appeared to be pointing in their direction cursing them as she shifted to one side where she moved to grip the side rail ?

“Hell that is one gorgeous female.” He could see the just married stickers across the side windows.
Waving to them he was greeted back by them as they seemed to make it clear that she had been drinking in celebration? Drunk. Sean stuck his hand up acknowledging them watching as one of the males moved towards the female obviously in his minds eye, to bring her back to safety?

A bleep of the monitor and Sean glanced down to see where David was now going. The recorder was taking in the data and reporting some really strong results. “You hearing me OK” “Loud and clear D, how good is visibility.” “Damm, sorry Sean I’ll turn on the camera.” Seconds passed before the imaging on the monitor punched in the live stream from Davids camera feed.

“Looking good! Water is nice and clear.” It was a little while later that Sean’s attention was momentarily taken away from the monitor as he noticed the boat adjacent to him pulling up anchor and moving off? Back to the mainland with no sign of the female who he reasoned must have been recovered and was probably below deck by now?

David had been well pleased with the testing of the new equipment. Time he thought, to head back to the boat and appraise the results with his main tech engineer. “Coming back up Sean, see you in a few minutes.” As he headed up something out of his right eye moved and it was coming towards him?
Movement let’s face it in the water around him was nothing unusual, the fish including at times dolphins and others though no desire to be a shark meal; was to be expected.

This however was not of marine origin. “Bloody hell.” he muttered under his breath as he shifted towards the falling shape. “You OK boss.” “Uhh Sean, you are not going to believe this.” When his camera focused on the falling figure Sean instantly recognized the female form of the one who had been drunk on the boat opposite.

Was the hurried departure of the boat to summon help from the mainland? Hang on, thought Sean, they could have shouted to me for help or at least gone into the water to rescue her? “Do you need me in the water to help boss?” “Stay where you are but have a hook ready to help bring her aboard when I surface. Sean lifted one of the hatches and screamed into the void beneath.

Minutes passed before the head and face of Lucy appeared. “Quick Lucy bring us the emergency resus kit babe.” Lucy headed into the corridor and tore open the recess flap to retrieve the gear all the time worrying that David was in trouble?

When Lucy reappeared she could see the outline of a female stretched out on deck with Sean and David performing resuscitation on whoever it was. Some momentary panic as there was no response and then spluttering with water gushing from the females mouth? Only Sean noted from actual chest compression and not it seemed voluntarily from the female herself.

“Start the engine and get us back to the mainland dammed quick, there is something badly wrong here with this girl.” As Sean moved past the others now moving into view aboard deck to help David and Lucy settle the girl and maintain her airway, he soon had the boat moving back to their beach house.

“Phone Rachel and tell her to get Schiever there ready for when we arrive, tell her the girl is unconscious and I reckon she’s been drugged.” “Could be cos of alcohol.” Sean told them what he had seen, a newly wed who appeared drunk, definitely staggering on deck, which was probably the reason she had fallen into the water.

“Were they the males we saw earlier?” Sean nods. “Asian, looked Chinese. Not into swimming, could be the reason the males did not jump into the water.” “They could have used the safety floats with the ropes tied to the boat.” “Beggars me why the rented a boat in the first place and came there alone.
It would have made more sense to have gone with a boat tour group.”

When they arrived back at the jetty and the girl had been transported to the beach house porch area it was a relief to see Dr Shiever waiting for them. After the initial examination he reassured them that her vitals were OK and indeed alcohol might have been a contributory factor. Certainly on leaning closer he was not alone in noticing the distinct smell of it on her breath.

“Put her in guest room 3 and I’ll keep an eye on her.” Rachel had them take the girl into the room. “OK you guys can leave us girls.” As they left she waited as Lucy now brought female clothing for them to change the girl out of the wet things on her before putting her on the bed and a light cover over her.

“Whoever the newly wed is, her clothing is not cheap. This is Dolce and Gabbana branded.” “Any idea of who she is?” “Cmon sis, like she is going to disappear beneath the waves with her purse.” Julia was grinning. Rachel scowled. “The boys are notifying the local police, I think they are going to try and trace the males including her husband?”

If they had thought the police would not be long getting back to them? “Look we all know how long things get done out here.” A day later and still no news of the males was leaving some wondering just what the hell was going on? YET the hotel they had been at confirmed that indeed the couple were newly weds BUT!

Nothing. Not a piece of information followed regarding what had happened or who the female was.
“You go on your business trip, don’t worry about her, we’ll make sure she is OK. “ David and Sean were soon on their way to London for a business meeting, mostly to brief their employees on the success of the new products.

Somewhere else in the Caribbean on another island, the police were talking to two males who described being in their boat not far from the island and the female being drunk had fallen overboard.
The reports duly filed the police were not going to hold them any longer than they had to whilst they concluded their enquiries. This was high season summer heat and all and ALL?

Recent burglaries, tourist thefts and more were already taking up a lot of their resources. “File it and if a body turns up then we’ll deal with it further.” To them, tourists getting drunk at sea, falling overboard and drowning was nothing unusual. Shortly after that the two males headed back to China.

“Any news?” Julia shook her head. “They asked me if she had any identification or ?! When I told them no they asked if she was dead. Honest ! DEAD! When I growled at them hinting what a stupid question that was they told me if the girl was alive, not dead or drowned she was our problem not theirs. “

“Cheeky bloody..” Lucy’s voice tailed off as Dr Schiever appeared at the door to enter the room and re examine the girl. Shining a light into her eyes he was shaking his head. “There’s a little response but not as much as I would have liked. At least her breathing is better and color is good. I gather there has been no actual waking up or?”

Unconscious. Not at a critical level but definitely not awake in any sense of the word. Dr Shiever put an IV in place to as he put it, boost her body fluids essential to keep her body ticking over until she did wake up. Well they were hoping she would. “We’ll set up a rota so we can keep an eye on her at all times, that way it won’t interfere with our usual routines.”

Macau. Withdrawing as much money as he could and transferring the rest via contacts in Hong Kong, Toimi was in an excellent mood. He had got his companion Xyulov to inform Taresku of events and update him on the fact that they had to wait a certain time period before the insurance monies could be claimed. If Taresku was annoyed he accepted what he had been told.

Xyulov was sent to mainland China from Hong Kong and as he stepped across the ‘border’ his vehicle was stopped and searched by police. Detained by them he was now realizing that he had been conned by Toimi who had fled with the monies on a ship headed out of Hong Kong to Manilla in the Philippines. Not that anyone knew that of course.

By the time Taresku had been appraised of what had happened and had successfully bribed the right people to let Xyulov go with instructions to report immediately to him in person, it was something it could be said Xyulov was NOT looking forward to, choosing instead to disappear into the ether.

David had meanwhile returned to the Caribbean to be informed of recent events regarding the female.“We can’t just call her whatever. I think it’s time we gave her a name.” The girls had spent the evening debating the topic in question and finally arrived at the conclusion. ‘Ariadne’

“Uhh?” “We found it tatooed on her lower back.” Julia was now laughing as she looked at David and Rachel interrupted her. “NOT that any of you guys will be looking to see if we are telling the truth.”
Followed by more laughter from the girls. “Well then, Ariadne it is.” David slumped back in his seat for Rachel to hand a drink to him. “Tequila sunrise?”

Suddenly Lucy rushed into the room. “She’s awake!” “How many weeks has it been?” “Nearly 6 weeks.” “You better phone Dr Shiever, he’ll want to check her over.” Rachel glanced at her brother as they left the room. “Good news I think and judging by earlier business is also good? Seems we will have cause for a good celebration drink tonight.”

The female was plumped up on pillows and able with a little effort, to talk. Dr Shiever had been speaking to her momentarily thanks to Rachel’s ability to talk to the girl in Chinese. “The girl has some memory loss which is normal given the trauma she has been through. I’ll give it a week or so and drop by again unless you need me in the meantime?” With that, Dr Shiever bid them farewell and left.

“You know how to cook Chinese dishes Lucy?” “I’ll cook her up a thin broth chicken noodle soup, should be easily digestible.” Some of the others were liking the idea to a share in that, Lucy was an exceptional cook amongst her many talents and one they always were keen to encourage.

It would be later when the food had been consumed and the girl had been settled. The rest of them were sat in the main living area talking. “Dr Shiever seems to be happy with her recovery.
It may he says, take her a little while to get her memory back, if she ever does. In the meantime we have to be gentle with her and let her tell us as she progresses, not force her to recall?”

“Thank the heavens that Rachel can speak some Chinese.” “I did notice, though she replied to me in Chinese that there were a few words of Korean.” “I noticed that too.” David was able to speak basic Korean and Frank could converse fluently in it. “Shame Frank wasn’t around, he might have been able to guage how much she knew.”

“For now we don’t know where she is from, it could be China or Korea, maybe she knows both languages, let’s face it how many of you can speak more than one language?”
IF they were curious and concerned it could be said that Chai’s mother who had had her daughter followed was now concerned to hear of recent news regarding her sudden disappearance.
WHERE, when and ?
