Seasonal Christmas story

‘Once upon a Christmas’

HeaterspannerTerry had in his hand a huge oval shaped spanner. Mia found it amusing. "For removing the thermostat on the hot water tank, that supplies the water for the main heating via the two radiators in the barn." Simple enough task. Could have waited until after Christmas.

He had felt that Sandy’s enthusiasm and desire to do some work on the car could at least be rewarded by having some warmth.

It was as he emphasized again, a simple task. However, the first time he tried to move the nut it seemed it was not going to shift anytime soon.

"Probably need a thump with a hammer to release it."
He nodded as she picked up a small 4lb hammer, passed it to him. She stood, waited for him to hand it back to her.

"You have drained the tank?" He smiles. "What do you take me for, of course I have woman!" Stood on a stool, to position the spanner again over the huge nut. Tapping it gently into place, before a thump to get the nut turning. Third attempt, there was a click and he could now turn the spanner.

Handing her the hammer, he continued to undo the nut. Mia had been looking the Bentley over. Sandy telling her she could look, not anything else, well alright sit in it.

Terry was laughing. She was well and truly in love with the car. He couldn't wait to see it serviced, and on the road! However it had crossed his mind, that to actually see her with some oil on her hands and grime would also be interesting!

Mia had been playing with the hooter on it, much to Sandy's annoyance! "Mia!" She shook her head, turned back to look up at Terry, still laughing! Slowly undoing that nut. slowly slowly. Ah a little dribble of water.

Climbing out of the car Mia was now headed towards her mother. Terry was pre-occupied. A little more, the last couple of turns and the old thermostat would be out. Suddenly Terry was knocked back off the stool.

Above him the thermostat now detached itself from the tank, whistling past him above his head, shoved out by several gallons, I should add, GALLONS of water, totaling probably in the region of at least, 20 gallons, jetted out, with some force behind it!

Slapped back against the carpet, stood against the opposite wall. whilst the water almost drowned him! Mia had been a witness to it all. She was laughing hysterically.

Sandy? She had started to laugh. Not for long. It dawned on her, the sensation of feeling very cold! Very wet! That the front of her, was completely soaked!

So wet in fact that she would have been a worthy contestant in a Miss wet t'shirt competition. It left little to the imagination.

"Oh hell, I knew I should have worn the other bra." She mutters as Terry like some drowned rat looks at her, she swipes at him.
"Idiot! I told you, to make sure the tank was empty of water!"

"I did." He howls. Mia is still laughing hysterically as Sandy glares at her. "Of course YOU would find it funny Missy!" Mia runs past her, as she shakes her head, chases after Mia towards the house. Cursing at how caaaaa caaaa cold it is!"

An hour later! Sandy had emerged from a soak in the bath. A nice, long, hot soak! The water from the tank was not freezing cold, but cold enough, by the time you had had a gallon or so, chucked over you.

Terry had changed, he had returned to the barn and replaced the old thermostat with the new unit and the system was now refilling. It would take some time for that to finish.

Heading back to the house, to find Sandy pouring herself a whiskey, he helped himself to one. "I hope that, was not your idea, of making a lasting impression on me." She poured the whiskey trying not to grin.

"You did didn't you! You ran the taps in that sink, left to come into the house, returned to find no water coming out of the taps and assumed the tank was empty?!"

On reflection she had been right. Terry had, after the event, due mostly to curiosity on his part, found the correct, drain valve, at the side of the tank. Located at the bottom, tucked a little out of sight.

She shook her head. "I knew when I was looking at that tank there was something but couldn't put my finger on what it was. Idiot!" She leaned in to give him a kiss, followed by poking her finger into his chest. "Idiot! Wrong type of pressure system!"

Mia had started to grin, she growled at her, trying not to laugh. "YOU! You had a floorshow spectacular!" "It was funny Mama, when Terry was knocked back off the stool towards that carpet stood against the wall and that thing I swear just missed his ear.

The water gushing out like some mini waterfall all over him, but funniest Mama had to be, when you were washed over, by the water bouncing off him and all down your front!" She fell about laughing again. Sandy stepped towards her to tickle her?

Chaos! Howls of laughter from Mia, who finally managed to break free and run for it!" Mum had picked up her drink swigged some of it back. Shifted closer to him.

"You go near that car to so much as breathe on it without me around, Mr bloody DIY superstar and I will .." Another kiss. “Well that attitude miss won't win you any prizes, I was thinking of awarding you first prize for your Miss wet t..."

He ran for it, past Mia who after seeing him and mum chasing after him, could not stop grinning! Yes today, had certainly been, a fun day. She would not be the only one, who would not be forgetting this one, anytime soon!

Sometime later if Sandy had been relaxing and chilling out, others from her home town, were meeting up to attend to some unfinished business.

"You have the money?" He passed Tyler the twenty pound note.
“Here's the details you asked for. If you dob me in, I will deny everything, I will also make it my job, to come and find you.“

Tyler had done his homework. He knew that the male in front of him had been arrested several times in the past. A liar, a violent drunk.

He was strong, fit and would not be adverse, to giving this thug a beating. Was he concerned, about giving him the details on the slip of paper? No! It was an easy twenty.

Tyler finished his drink and left. The guy didn't have a car, drank far too much so would be incapable of driving to the place on the slip of paper anyway! So what did he have to worry about! Plus it was a long drive. Hours away!
