Regen.

Dahhan had surprised them. He refilled the water tank, it was good clean filtered water. His mood was strangely plesant, unnerving to some of them! Ignoring them he disappeared into the laboratory.

Work to do! The samples were carefully analyzed re the Fodawke and the Cflen female. What came back, astonished him. He grabbed Suki to ask her.

“Must be cross contamination!” She shook her head “Those systems are running perfectly and, ACCURATELY! I tested the systems myself, as I ran tests, from the new Regens!”

What Dahhan had discovered, shocked him! Was there, some primeval link between the Fodawke and the Cflen?
True they both had wings, but was it the Fodawke, or the Cflen that came first?

“The problem is.“ Lumor was sat having dinner in one rare civillised meal. when they were all for once, partaking of a meal. As for talking to each other?!

“Is those rogue proteins and what happens with cross contamination. On a planet like this? But I have to admit.“
He grinned. “Beings with wings, like those bloody things, are a little too far fetched for my liking.

You broaching the possibility, that you could change their DNA, increase their brain size and, it might make the bloody things evolve with a much higher level of intelligence!” Caley laughed.

“So long as he didn't use his own DNA attributes!" She fell about laughing, joined by several others now smirking.
"Now that I would like to see! Still, it doesn't take too much to be more intelligent than Dahann.“

Lumor was making it clear that under NO circumstances was that going to happen! Even with using Dahaan's DNA!
“I am kidding! I don’t think for one moment, we should go tampering with the evolutionary processes on this planet.“

Caley paused, looking around at them all. “NOT for one moment! You start with those things and if they develop a higher level of intelligence we could be dinner guests. On the menu!“

“Are we staying?” Lumor looked at Dahhan. "Are we staying on this planet?" “What makes you ask that?” “I’m curious that’s all." "There is no reason why we need to stay. We could go search for other Humanaa colonies?”
"Uhh, this far out? I doubt it! What if we’re still wanted by the Galacia Federa or similar.

You fancy being locked up in one of their pens.“ Suki interrupted them. "Locked up, who are you kidding? I saw the wanted broadcasts. ‘Dead’ more like! If we head back to Humanaa colonies and they realize who we are, what’s to stop bounty hunters coming for us? All of us have a price on our heads.” Dahhan nodded.

“She’s got a dammed good point.“ “I think in that case if this continues to meet our needs?”

Dahhan did not go to sleep straight away, he was in the laboratory until the early hours, lookin at the DNA profiles and doing comparisons. The x and y chromosomes, were very similar to ours. The DNA was remarkably similar! PLUS they are carbon based life forms, the same as us?

What he did notice, were a few anomalies. Some extra chemical and DNA strings, which he could easily manipulate.

The Cflen DNA spiral, ran the other way to ours! Made them uniquely different, yet so similar it was stimulating his curiosity, the desire to do some more experiments!

Arvania was a connumdrum. By all reasoning, there was something about her that didn’t add up. He would have to wait and see when he met up with her later, see what else he could find out. Possibly some previous historical facts about her race? There was also no indication of HOW many there were? Males? Children? How long did they live?

He moved over to the screen to look at the mapping. He wondered if there were any underwater worlds, or places that might have life similar to them or the Fodawke?

“Did you tell him?” Gi glared at Lumor watching his reaction and his expression to see if he was telling her the truth.
“Told him first thing this morning!” “Bet he wasn’t too pleased on that.“

Gi looked at Caley, she had been surprised by HIS reaction. “Actually he seemed unconcerned. Heading off out somewhere, looked as though his mind was elsewhere!“

“So he knows, he won’t be doing anything with the Regens?“ Lumor finished inputting data and stepped past them to another screen. “Sure does!“ “Joeden.” He smiled as he stepped towards them.

“The Regen processes should be finished by this evening, modules are mapping skin at this very moment, they’re looking good. Nice little extra, you caught me by surprise!”

Lumor glanced over to him, wondering what the hell he was going on about? “What?” “The variations in eye tone and skin tone!” Caley’s face was one that looked distinctly puzzled, as she moved past him, followed by Suki and Gi towards the Regen bays.

She peered at the first Regen screen, then at the eyes and skin data. “I didn’t key these profiles!“ Lumor stood watching, as Caley moved to the next and the next screen on each Regen.

“I need to check the data logs, to see who has made adjustments over the last twenty four hours? Someone must have.”

Suki was looking the data over as Caley shifted next to her. “Nope nothing. According to this, from when you programmed in the stats, it remains original data. Per four days ago? BUT “ Suki turned back to Caley.

Caley looked at Lumor who had walked from regen screen to regen screen “Someone or something has a sense of humour!” Caley looked at him.

“All my favourite colours! As for the eye colors, iris and retina? Incredible depth to them! Isolate the string but leave it, don’t amend the Regen banks!“ Caley growled at him.

“All our work, could be wasted? We could end up having to start all over again!“ He glared back at her.
“If we have to, we have to!“ Stepping past her, he looked at the first Regen. Into the face of the Regen. It was almost complete, bar a little tidying up on skin and similar.

Suddenly the eyelids that had previously been wide open flipped shut! Opening slowly, twitching as though it had dust on them that it was trying to remove? As that stopped the eyelid returned to a more normal function. Blinking? It, it would appear was waking up!

The eyes moved to focus on them. The head, remained motionless. “Woo gives me the creeps that does!“ Gi started to giggle. “Hate it when they do that! Reckon it can see us?”

“It will see an image but the thought processes won’t kick in just yet.“ Lumor moved his head to look at it from different angles! He could swear, the eyes followed his every move! “That one’s yours.“ “I’m calling mine Nisa.“ “Suki we’re not allowed to give them names, its too personal!“

Suki remained stubbornly obstinate. Lumor left them. “I don’t care what he says, or thinks! Damm silly rule if you ask me.“ “So you won’t mind terminating Nisa rather than 100p2?“ Suki said nothing as Gi now interrupted.

“Well I think, I’m definitely going to give mine a name! Numbers are so impersonal. How about “ She paused to giggle. “Gia.” “Bit predictable if you ask me.“ Caley was trying not to laugh! "Gia it is.“
