The Gift.…
..and resting there, within the hollows of the cavern deep, she bowed her head and folded in, her wings to sleep. Yet rest her eyes, but not her heart, that wept for her people, torn apart.
…and in the stillness she could hear, the voices crying out above the tears. The murmur of the child, who does not understand his lot, but yearns for covers soft within its cot.
The balance forever changed, the beast it waits in shadows, hides its face to feast, until the suns will rise again, and to the Cflen, comes their gift; the gift of pain.
