Lumor was in a foul mood, the others were surveying the scene. “Its no good we need to flush the tanks and start all over again.“ It was midday. They were sat round having some refreshments when Lumor walked in, he glared at them, “So we have assessed the situation?” Caley nodded.
“But I see no one has bothered to flush the tanks or at least.“ He paused, shoved a unit violently slamming against the bulkhead.
“Bothered other than making notes on what we need to do, to physically do anything!“ Stepping over to a control panel, he activated a screen. Fingers across the screen, initializing systems to flush the tanks and eject the generates waste.
Caley looked at the others. “We didn’t, given the toxicity, flush the tanks. We were going to see, if we could neutralise the mass, before discharging the tanks.“ He glared at her. “Firstly I had us land here, because its isolated, its not big enough an area to set up perimeter sentinels and other security, which also means, I don’t intend for us to stay here.
Simply a means to an end, which was emptying those ucking tanks! They’re discharging now. When we’ve finished we’ll move on away from this area. We're not bound by ucking Earth rules and regulations here! That's why we left! We answer to no one cept ourselves! So, in future when I tell you to flush the ucking tanks I expect it done! That applies to ANY order I give! Is that understood?!“
He stopped, closed the screen. “It won’t make any difference to us, how it affects this area. If there are any inhabitants, we haven’t picked them up on our scanners. What does concern me, is we can’t cleanse the units, or start the new processes, until those tanks are clean and empty!“ He picked up a beaker filled it with water, left them.
Gi looked at Caley. “I see he’s his usual warm friendly, love you all, self!“ Lakir interrupted. “I don’t know why you let him talk to you like that Caley? Uckin gets me real mad. Who the hell made him the boss? Was I absent when we had a vote?”
“He did put a lot of work into the generates.“ Joden sipped her drink. “You know what he’s like, gets obsessive and he really flipped, when things started to go wrong! I never saw anyone put so much time into trying to work out what was causing the DNA restructuring. Jeez he drove me almost insane!
Mind you he never was much for pleasantries until hours after he had woken up from sleeping. Lets face it, he’s had, as we all have. Had a hell of a lot of sleep! Lot of frustration and I don’t doubt, he’s pissed off over the navi systems failing.”
“The last batch of regenerates had serious flaws. One in every six, showed signs of reversion and the aggressive strain in them, made them powerfully strong and dangerously unpredictable.“ Caley grinned. “Bet you wouldn’t have been screwing around with the one that went berserk Joden!“ Gi scowled
“Don’t mean he, can take it out, on all of us.” Joden nodded. “We shoulda flushed those tanks in the outer atmosphere.“ Suki fastened her belt, moving past Caley, scowling. “Would have burned up, solved the problem of contamination. How come nobody thinks around here and puts it into practice.“
"Oh come on Suki! If you had been so concerned, how come YOU didn't do just that?!"
“She’s got a point though! But on reflection given the situation we landed ourselves in, I can't see any problem. Planets big enough, we just move on. So what if a small area is contaminated? Besides the generates material is definitely totalled.“
“Yeah but you know we have proactive whites! Bacteria that live on waste and dead matter let alone the blue stranded stuff! As for the necro proteins.“ “We could spray the area with Trigon 4 mist.“ Dahhan stepped over to the screen activated it and tapped a few times.
“Might make a few things sterile, could kill plants and such within a mile radius given spread aswell as the bacteria.“ “How long will that take! For one thing, he won't sanction that and secondly wouldn't want to be around when you ask, he’ll go ballistic!”
Suki sounded sarcastic. “I agree! I can see him letting us spend a day mucking around with that!“ It was twenty minutes later Lumor stepped back in, not amused to see them still stood around talking. “We’re taking off in a few minutes, I’ve done some checking with the nav probes, found a much bigger, flat area, to the west of here. Perfect to release the drones, have them making a fortified, secure enclosure. Decide on who wants to go look for materials, re a more solid structure. Let me know.“
The engines fired up and the craft started to lift, hovering before the feet were retracted into the craft. It was now slowly climbing to a height above the trees, the craft on auto pilot the landing site locked into its systems.
Caley sat down opposite him, as he set the controls on auto. “Does she know?” He stared at her. “Gi?” He shook his head. “Doesn’t need to, till we’re ready!” “You know you really are one unbelievable son of a bitch.“
“Bring her along so you can take strips off her.“ She turned to stare at him. “You sodding knew, there was a possibility, we might need to refresh the DNA samplers. Even if that means taking it from her, or using her, to seed new generates?” She lowered her hand to a small weapon tucked at her side.
“I might let you bed me from time to time but just remember this. Try that with me and I’ll make sure, you don’t have any reason to want to sleep with me let alone making any more of those ucking generates.“ He scowled. “You ain’t exactly Miss perfect body, Miss perfect skin, Miss perfect anything!“ He paused.
“I’d sooner have Dahhan’s DNA then yours infect my generates!“ She squeezed the weapon her hand gripping it harder. “So long as you remember that, we’ll get along just fine.“
Gi had arrived back at her cabin, there was a pile of luxury soaps and creams on the unit she peered at them there was a note attached ! from Lumor. “Sorry if I upset you, I know how much it causes stress, don’t want you all stressed out!
They don’t appreciate real beauty the way I do. Hope this helps you forgive me.“ She took some of the cream, rubbed it onto her arm, smelt it. “My favorite factor9. Heck, you remembered!“ She picked up his picture, looked at it. “I forgive you!“
