 A trip around some ancient ruins?
These were so he was informed, some of the oldest on the planet. ALL of them ORIGINALLY faced NORTH.
Stacked rocks that over time had weathered to the point was dangerous to enter some of them as the collapse of the ceilings had happened on occasion with the numbers being quite horrific.
Nio was a pleasure to have as a guide.. Her humour was interspersed with some moments that were focused on the origins of some of the structures.
The ones that told a story of a war that left millons dead or so badly injured, a slow death; they wish they were.
That brought about the TRICK or TREATS.
IF your ‘chosen’ was to be won over, to join the family and carry on your heritage then you had to engage in the centruries old tradition. The tradition itself was old.. far beyond even their understanding re its origins.
The simpicity lay in the its TRICK or TREATS. Most were in it for the TREATS though a few less amiable ones were quite happy well not so much HAPPY as to be causing mischief and mayhem. the only time that was allowed.
NO one wanted it to be more complicated. The ‘Chosen’ put their names forward or were nominated; simple as that, The TRICK or the TREATS were always FEMALE as determined by the ‘PROGESTOR’.
ANY age, AGE? that was irrelevant, Modern body suits could house the souls of those who were hundreds of years old now transferred to the suits and they could sometimes switch partners at the next ‘Haloi’.
The ONLY ones who could not do that, were the ones deemed to be ‘Cojoined’ as we would know it, married for life; joined as one. Those who interfered in such a ‘union’ could find themselves facing the prospect of termination.
Lives, living were far less complex than earlier civilizations had known.
The bureaucratic processes were streamlined to exclude some of the former;
long drawn out tediums.
Restrictions and how YOU wanted to ‘live your life’ per sae was very much inline with, just that. A ‘harmony’ amonst ALL living beings, that was enforced. Perhaps in some aspects a little crazy BUT it worked. 
Trading and commerce still existed and for some their whole reason for existing was to provide those services; serve and SERVANTS mostly robotics did the bulk of that work.
SOME worlds did NOT allow ROBOTICS in any way shape or form WHATSOEVER.
Any breaking those laws, THAT LAW were terminated. EVEN ‘companions’ The Bynard class 9 incuded .
Likewise ZERO TECH worlds did exist or parts of those worlds were closed off to ANY who indulged in TECH. Fom the simpler control modules to the more advanced; BANNED and the punishments for breaking the LAW was in most instances there to be CAST OUT.
On average most enjoyed a reasonably high level of comfort.
NO starvation, NO wars, NO desire for war? TOO ludicrous to comprehend.
You have to remember that the ‘populace’ was heavily MONITORED..
‘Monicons’ were MILITARY. Most common were the ‘OPTICONS’; OPTICAL surveillance systems, where surveillance, registration of the populace the INHABITANTS carefully scanned by then and irregularities the info sent back to a central control system.
EVERY microbe of your form was scanned, recorded and allocated YOU your own ‘moniker’. Some planetary systems EVERYONE of the worlds within had the same recorded DATA about YOU.
Monicons could ‘freeze frame’ you.. Scan you and IF the action was necessary to detain you it could do just that. Held within a force field until the main forces arrived to take you away.
Opticons scanned you and then decisions were made. Let you go forget about you simple as that. Wanted? The information was passed to the MILITARY LAW ENFORCEMENT. IT would remain tracking you until you were detained by the Militia.
YOU were GUILTY or INNOCENT that was it. The ‘elders; had the final say but YOU did NOT. NO such thing as INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY.. CRIMINALS once labeled such were terminated.
NO PRISONS, Detention centres SHORT TERM ONLY. IF a family ie a RICH one could pay for the mercy and have take the responsibility for the released to them .. they would be paying for the operation that LOBOTOMISED the CRIMINAL. 
NO mercy payout the criminal was terminated..
dust to dust. NO SOUL transfers to SUITS..
The belief that the SOUL could go onto become the CRIMINAL reborn still existed.
The COLOR of YOU, YOUR BUILD, HEIGHT, WEIGHT, PERSONAL PREFERENCES ?
Did NOT matter.
WHO YOU WERE beneath the SKIN and that could also include SUITS.. was what conted re IF YOU were regarded as in HARMONY or ?
For those choosing to exist within the ‘bubble of SIMPLISTIC LIVING’ They were protected.
