Becci and about ten others had gone with Margise to one of the ‘Flat rocks'. On a ridge some distance from the Akademy looking towards the sun, now dropping from the heavens, replaced by the rising moonlight. It was late and they wanted to see the sun set, from a place, they had been told, would show them an amazing display of color to end the day. They were NOT to be disappointed!
Talking amongst themselves. Laughing, feeling relaxed and at ease, seeing this beautiful softening glow vanish on the horizon. Before moving back to their domiciles. “You know its the first time, in a long time I’ve shared a sunset of such beauty with friends, I have a confession to make. The first time I saw the sun set I was worried it might not return! I realized how much, that is so beautiful and natural, we take for granted..“ She was not the only one thinking the same, some had never watched the sun set, too busy in their own lives, always some excuse or other not to just sit and appreciate, the gift from the creator.
The same could be said of those in the Collonades, looking at the battle scenes from heroic wars, across the galaxies or peering, at wonders like the waterfalls, or the star clusters, or the ring clusters and murmuring as they stared in awe at such sights. It was a time when others from other worlds, could enlighten them, could talk of the strange sights, the battles the flowers, the animals, the weird and the wonderful, foods and drinks? Fashion, music?
The technologies and, and? All too tiring for some, as they yawned on their way back to their domiciles, to arrive back sliding onto the recline units and falling fast asleep.
La Toyah smiled. “Day two over with. I hope, everyone is prepared, for day three, when the fun really starts?” The new tutors had enjoyed a tour of the Akademy. Corky had seen a lot over the years, but even he, had to admit it was impressive. The Knurlings? A design he had brought to fruition, well liked and used on some worlds but one, he had never thought to see here! He had been praised by La Toyah for being the designer. Making those present more than aware of his skills.
La Toyah, in fairness, forewarned them. "Don't think the last few days for those who are new here are indicative of what is to come! Once they get settled, that is when the real Ket comes to the surface! Anything from pleasant to anti social nightmare, in an instant!" He was now wondering, what he had let himself in for, relieved to see Margise accompanied by Jsek. As she slid into the seat next to him and Serenia, she was pleased to tell him. ‘She was going to like it here’. Despite La Toyah and her predictions on what to expect.
The third day started innocently enough. It was a trip to what we would call a museum of sorts. In the building itself, a huge collection of old world, new world weapons, transport and more from across the galaxies. It was bound to be a firm favorite, for those into Renais, whether boy bands or girl bands or pop music, rock music, motorcycle racing, car racing, trike races and so on.
It was fun looking back, on the times when modern technology didn’t rule with its imaging, its automatic targeting including the arrays, when manual skill and real judgment, sheer risk, chance; ruled who won, who lost. The old earth exhibits were always popular. From chariots to tanks, to full target arrays with sophisticated ranging. Corky had been brought along, to give them some more information. Serenia was also along to impress on them, that basic skills such as intuition and making decisions without complex targeting and assimilator coders, would determine in their competitions, with each other, as to who won.
Some were pleased, others a little skeptical others downright infuriated, “What’s the point of all this junk.“ It was Prince Illia of the Jogarth making his opinion well versed, as now Van Ea, his sister, joined him, followed by Princess Seocia, making sure her nails, did NOT come into contact with any of the exhibits. “Its pointless! A waste, of our time.“ Ocasa was a fan of Corky’s, apart from the fact, he hated the Jogarth, though that had nothing to do with his retort, which basically told them, they were a waste of space.“
“You won’t learn anything, cos you think, you know it all, don’t you.“ He glared at Illia who moved to face him. “We sorted you lot out good and proper the last time we met. Not that we weren’t glad to get rid of you as slaves. No one wanted you lot.” He started laughing, Ocasa thought about thumping him?! Corky looked at him, shook his head, as he turned away, Illia jeered at him “That’s it, run like you always do.”
Van Ea now joined in making noises, not very pleasant ones. She stopped when Ameryst came over to talk to Ocasa. She had overheard as had most present, the jibes made? She moved to stand in front of Illia. Not the least bit, intimidated by him. "If you had seen the latest Globecast news, I doubt you would be laughing or jeering." With that, she turned, slipped her arm under Ocasa's and walked off. Some good news to impart to him? He was now smiling.
