Corky wondered if Illia had been up to his tricks again. But that didn’t make sense! He was just as vulnerable and as much a target. No it wasn’t Illia, which is where his suspicions were confirmed; by the actions of the Sukaran. Moving towards Illia, trying to separate him; from the other Kets? Its hostility all too apparent. Angry at not being able to get to him, it started attacking them. They were quick to retaliate. It put up a fight but was soon overpowered. An assault by so many Kets from all sides? Suddenly IT too vanished!
The score digits? Appearing in front of them, rolling again adding another 1000! This time it only took merits off Illia’s team. It said, for Illia’s cowardice in hiding behind them all. Illia was fuming. COWARD. His rage was more than apparent. The others were laughing. Some, had wondered why they didn't bring the being back and let it have him, just to shut him up!
Gelea had been very concerned that the Monicon had NOT responded. Whatever it was, stepping out of the shadows, was intent on preventing them from going any further. It stood still, not moving, but without doubt ‘On guard’. “What is it?“ "A mutant Bxfa clone.“ It was Hoki and the translation unit on the Monicon, was now relaying her thoughts to them, verbally. “A semi organic life form originally from Mahifra, within the Rogarian homewords." Cept what ever created this had done just that. Cloned it. That race no longer existed, after a rebellion that saw their destruction; genocide.
"This is a VERY dangerous being. None of you are to attempt to attack it, lower your weapons.“ They responded to her as they lowered them. The colors on the Bxfa changed. “The colors indicate the level of threat it perceives from you. Earlier it was a high threat, so the colors were red." It was now blue. "Since it, does not know, of my race the Simeron, it cannot determine, if I am a hostile.
I sense, that it believes my size, poses no threat to it. THAT, is it’s first and only mistake.” Hoki moved her hands, the colors on the Bxfa blinked but did not change color. Suddenly the Monicon burst into life and a stream of energy washed across the Bxfa. The Bxfa had some almost immediate responses that once again, shut down the Monicon.
However it’s primary colors had changed to red. Had it perceived Hoki as a primary target, a true threat? Hoki had deliberately activated the Monicon, the reason, for now, unknown by the Kets. She wanted to test the Bxfa’s responses. It was NOT what Hoki had expected. She had wondered if the Bxfa would destroy the Monicon or attempt to destroy it?
Nope. It did nothing. Cept of course indicate that it was now alerted to the threat. “Well, I don’t think that worked.“ Kephra's voice tailed off, as she felt her thoughts interrupted by? Hoki. Talking to her and her alone. A plan that had been carefully formulated to use Kephra’s talents and allow Hoki to deliver the final punch? Hoki had not wasted time in doing some more research on this creature. She had discovered that it had a weak spot, but first?
In the tunnel, Sephra moved. To stand next to Hoki? “NO one is to move, keep your weapons lowered, do NOTHING in response to what is about to occur. Sephra started to shimmer. To those looking on, some of them knew, what was about to happen but? She vanished. The colors on the Bxfa flickered. Flashing? ‘This is it.’ Thought some of the Kets as they watched her appear behind the Bxfa? What it did next took some, totally by surprise. Its ears, as we would perceive them to be, moved! Cylindrical in form, the mass now forming either side of it’s head was known to Hoki but NOT to the other Kets.
An energy field formed. It would seem that it had protected itself extremely well! BUT what about Sephra? Surely with her behind IT, IT must assume she was a threat? The Monicon sprang into life. It was now firing at Sephra! Who was vanishing appearing, vanishing and so it continued for some minutes? Hoki suddenly shut the Monicon down. IT, became agitated? Sephra had vanished! She did NOT reappear. YET IT sensed its mission was about to be compromised. Stopping them from getting to the device it had planted?
That being must have deceived it, tricked it! To stop Sephra? That would mean it would have to move back into the tunnel. Ah, therein lies the dilemma. IT could NOT, Hoki knew, without disabling it’s force field. Decisions, decisions. The ears flickered in color and the energy field started to disperse as IT went to move turning away from them, in pursuit of it’s target. The moment IT moved the Monicon became active again. Dispersing a wave of energy across the thing the full force of its primary weapon being used enough to make the Bxfa shake.
Some might have said with rage. From the forehead a beam of energy targeted the Monicon. How powerful that was, they were about to discover. The whole thing exploded. Pieces flying everywhere. Bouncing off the walls and were it not for Hoki now encasing them all in a bubble of energy? They would have been badly injured. It turned and walked off into the tunnels. Somehow it seemed to the Kets that it was not planning on joining Sephra's fan club.
As for Sephra?! She had found what she was looking for! No wonder IT wanted to protect the device from her. She had her coms active and was talking to Corky. “Insert the disc into the second module. Reactivate it and let me know when it’s active.” She heard it as the footsteps got closer. Louder and louder. Was she too late?
