The story of the ‘Arahi’ Out in the deep darkness of space, within the galaxies, continuously ongoing, are the intergalactic squabbles and sadly all too often; wars. Those that have it all? It seems that even they, are not content with what they have. They must search, seek and if necessary take by force, if nothing else prevails, to make what others have, their own. Regardless of whether they need to or not. Of course, if you feel its not theirs to take, then you would, might, or threaten to retaliate.

Some won’t argue when they are intimidated, beaten or battered by a foe twice their size and just as formidable. But that is the nature, of bullying. HOWEVER. Even bullies sooner or later get their just rewards and NOT always, do things go to plan. As Doona often comments, size as they say is NOT everything! Most bullies, like to have others around, to back them up. Should they not be around.

They may, look the sum of the parts, but are often totally incapable of rational common sense, sound judgment and or guts to pitch themselves against you, without their lackeys. There is also the chance that a large brute of a bully, may meet another, MUCH BIGGER brute of a bully, who won’t stand for any pretender to his throne.

The Arahi had beautiful lands, rich in the warmth of a sun similar to how ours used to be. Plush green and peaceful lands, that held much in resources and material wealth. The Arahi. They were smaller than most other races. Not that they were pygmies. Many races are over 7ft tall! Even us Humana, NOW, are 7ft plus. But the Arahi for some reason, were only about 6ft at most. Their Kets were also, smaller than most Kets.

But I digress. On this particular day, what might have been a peaceful start to the day, sun shining, birds singing, all is right with the world; type of moment? To disturb such idyllic serenity, came a war hungry race, known as the Mirago. Seeking to seize and enslave the Arahi.

The number of space ships gathering in numbers to seal off their planet. Could only mean, hostile intent. A blockade? Stopping all trading vessels from and to the planet. Pirates? Second nature to them. Seize, enslave. The Arahi knew, they must act and fast, or they would not be able to withstand the would be invaders, onslaught.

The Mirago were, like so many would be conquerors, a cruel and heartless race. You have it, I like it, I want it, mentality. GIVE it to me, OR ELSE. Not so nice, not nice at all.

There was, within the Arahi world, what we might call a ‘Royal House’ A KING, called Enefon whose QUEEN was called Carawen. A pretty and demure damsel but do not be fooled by such an illusion, such a female was fearless. A son, an only child, a Prince, called Iophan. Today, about 15 years of age, who they adored. Very protective of? Perhaps overprotective.

Understandable really, he was their only son. Their fear, in case they should ever lose him. So although Iophan could have gone to the Kets Akademy they would not let him and hid from him, the knowledge of such a place. On pain of banishment others were forbidden to talk about it. He had a Cohort. since a child. A truly special and trusted friend, of his father, who swore that their son would not grow up spoilt and pretentious. Arrogant, or cruel and unjust. Despite having everything he could wish for, simply at the click of his fingers. Gharow taught him to love, to respect, to be fair and kind, compassionate, charitable towards others who were not so lucky in life.

The would be invaders, without warning or provocation, sent attack craft into their world. Attacking their cities, killing their people. Delivering their ultimatum, for surrender; or face further attacks. Showing off across their Globecast units, images of a huge invasion force. Their emissary, to broker the terms of their surrender. There were none. Surrender or else?! Had told King Enefon.

If the Arahi surrendered, his life and his family would be spared, banished to another world of their choice. They would be merciful. But Enefon was no fool. He knew from history the Mirago were NOT to be trusted. They were in simple terms, born liars, deceivers. The emissary was sent packing with his tail they might have said between his legs, to his masters with one clear message. If you want a fight. Expect NO mercy from the Arahi. Minutes later it was now the turn of the Mirago to defend themselves against the onslaught.

An attack from Arahi forces, destroyed several of their craft with ease. It took the Mirago completely by surprise. Complacent you see in thinking that as a far superior race, with the numbers at their disposal, not just craft but troopers? The best illustration would be the scene from the bible of David vs that monster of a being, Goliath.

King Enefon, would not hear the words of his advisors. “Use the device." He was insistent on joining the battle, no greater honor than to die defending his own. "My people want to see ME, to see them, PUNISHED by us. They may have the greater number of vessels but we have the skill, the weapons that are far superior to them!"

The battle raged on and slowly the Mirago fleet was becoming less and less of a threat. HOWEVER The Arahi fleet had suffered aswell and some of their craft had had to retire to their planet to be repaired. Still, the Arahi were winning and the Mirago would soon be turning tail and running which is exactly what they did. Cheers all round. Loud and clear! Five Arahi craft had seen off eight remaining Mirago craft. So much for the bullying antics of the would be conquerors!

Yet the Mirago had not been so stupid as some might have believed them to be, in deploying their entire fleet in one go. Such an enemy did we not remember? Is a devious, cunning and deceitful one. If Enefon had not wanted to pursue the enemy his commanders were insisting on purusing them and destroying the last of their fleet. They gave chase. Venturing past the dark side of the moon, Enefon and the remaining Arahi engaging the last, or so they thought, of the Mirago fleet. Too late the terrible truth, a savage attack from over twenty of the biggest Mirago Elite combat craft. They had been tricked.

The Mirago knew these were the only defence left for the planet. Exhausted all their attack craft? Little or no defenses on the planet below to stop their invasion! Enefon was, as was his fleet. No more. On the planet of the Arahi, Gharow had seen all. Heard all. Iophan had not. For good reason. His mother and Gharow had made plans. Whatever the outcome in the absence of his father, they did NOT want him to take on the role of King.

Carawen loved his father dearly but cursed at the instilled belief that so many endeared themselves to, that is was a great honor to die in battle! She was determined Iophan would have a childhood. At least Enerfon had agreed with her on her views. "Do what you will with the boy until you consider he is fit to be King. Just make sure that he is as lucky as I have been in finding himself such a beautiful and loyal Queen."
