It’s never a good idea to go poking your nose into things that don’t concern you.“ Kejes was not a Ket who took criticsm lightly. A Ket with a temper and with little or no time for those who favored religion. Religious zealots were always apparent within the galaxies and some were tolerated, others hunted to extinction. The Qwei it was rumored were deeply religious and upsetting them or their priests, priestesses was NEVER a good idea.
They’d send out assassins to find you and suitably punish you if not kill you. They also bore an uncanny resemblance to the Humana but they were NOT. Their DNA was much more sophisticated and this lot? The Nifaranti it was known practised strange rituals. They also possessed healing powers and had a surprising number of followers within the Kets at the Akademy. Liked for their tolerance, their attempts to teach the Kets strong beliefs in their own faith, their destiny?
It didn’t matter to them WHAT race, color or creed you were, you could talk to them, indulge yourself in their rituals and NOT be judged or looked down on. Kejes was always suspicious of that kind of beings. From birth her right of passage to being an adult had been harsh, unforgiving and demanding. It told her that NO ONE was to be trusted if you wanted to stay alive. To always suspect the worst.
WHY had, the Transparent, who’s race had a history of violence and established history, as some of the most dangerous of assassins; come here? “I will, even if you won’t tell me, find out why? When I do, I promise you the Akademy WILL know and I will seek to have you and your race expelled. I smell a conspiracy and if it involves Kets or even a Ket. You will suffer.“ Kejes turned and left. Watched by the Priestess. “As I told you, it is NEVER a good idea to go poking your nose into things that don’t concern you Ket. You WILL live to regret your threats.“
Serenia had been talking to Corky. “We had an incident on Fendiq with them. They vanished before they could be taken prisoner and questioned. Of course you know don’t you that most of the time, they’re executed on sight. A lot of races are scared of them. There are some notable incidents in history across the galaxies with that race which give a lot of races good reason to kill them.“ “Well this one obviously came in peace. Just a visit to the temple and that was it. I was waiting for something to happen but nothing.“
“I can understand it secreting itself aboard the Spynx. Let’s face it, IT would never have gotten aboard and on to Onica any other way without ending up dead. There is of course one aspect to this. I suspect the information from that Monicon will have gotten through to others who may not share your views on letting it go.“ “We can’t call the temple to account. Any visitors and their activities within the temple areas are priviledge and cannot be questioned.
We can be in serious trouble accusing any Priest or Priestess of any wrong doing without proof. I am more than aware that YOU, have none.“ The Akademy Elect was not interested in listening to Kejes any longer. She was dismissed. Her temper was getting the better of her. She felt that beating the truth out of the Priestess might get results. "You will NOT." Serenia made clear to her. "Go near that temple again without informing me first! Do I make myself clear?" Kejes nodded. "Now go."
Waiting to be put into the Reclu units. Discussions, arguments and not forgetting Taon thrown in for good measure! “I’m not saying that they have the advantage.” Taon? She had been increasingly annoying to the rest of the team. Spending time working out the statistics of probability on the outcome of their skills against the other teams? “We just have to do our best.“ Taon invariably drove Colfra as one might say, ‘NUTS’.
Her persistent questions, her rampant curiosity, that drove them all crazy, coming to the fore, time after time. Not that Taon, was by any stretch of the imagination, stupid. If she calculated the odds, then the odds were probably as accurate as you could get em. However there always was as Roaen pointed out, the element of ‘Chaos’ that could make substantial changes to those calculations. These Kets were always a good source of CHAOS.
Roaen was laughing so much he almost split the skin. It had to be carefully patched. “Kets need to be on the Reclu units and positioned with all the controls active.“ The upright tubes opened to allow each of the Kets to step inside and stand on the platform. Special nodules attached to permit them to breathe. NOT all races have the same nose and throat as Humana.
The Vendarans have a breathing gill to the side of their body. They don’t have noses as such though there is a small raised area that might resemble a nose it is purely decorative nothing else. The tubes started to move and tilted back. They were all now facing the huge Strat screens. Images started to flicker. A planet? A journey? Time to show off their skills in strategy and strength, in being able to adapt, improvise and overcome but most of all? To win. BUT. As a team.
“Why is the ground a funny blue color?“ There were howls, from several of the Kets. “TAON!“ The first of many MANY questions, arduous comments, they suspected from Taon. They were not alone. In the temple the Priestess glanced at the others present. “The Kets name is Taon. She must be watched and if necessary action taken to ensure she does NOT survive should she find the missing pieces.“ “I have taken action to punish the other Ket.“ Kejes stumbled, fell forward the blow to the back of her head as she tumbled down the steps to land unconscious at the bottom.
