“My mother is most anxious, that I am taught well. To acquire the knowledge the strength and the wisdom, to step into my fathers shoes, I cannot ask more. Your help and a belief, in what I tell you, is the truth.“ “This is the first time you have had to mix with other races and the rules are rigorously enforced.
No discrimination, whatever the situation. Friends, enemies, like or dislike others, you have to learn to tolerate, to work together. To share and most of all CARE. Corky was smiling. Prince Iophan had certainly been love struck by Margise. He had to admit, he liked his simplistic honesty. Yes he would not oppose his intentions providing Becci or some one else of Pure blood was present.
Margise was on her own, Becci had left some ten minutes since. She was tired. Yawning, standing in front of the mirror attempting to clean her teeth she stopped. Once again feeling overwhelmed by it all. “I really am in love, but am I such a fool to believe, you a Prince, could love me? When you find out about my past, my father being a Jogarth? “ She felt a tear run down her cheek, wiped it dry. ‘Stop being such a fool Margise. Forget it happened. By tomorrow, you’ll discover, it was just a token of his sincerity and that surely is good enough? Be content with who you are, your lot in life.
She remembered well, her mother’s words all that time ago. It was painful to remember, that terrible, terrible time, when the Jogarth came, took slaves, beat them. The savage cruelty, the hatred. ‘No, be content, that you are alive, that you lived, that you have, what you have. That you were one of the lucky ones out of thousands who did not survive.
Prince Iophan was talking to his mother. “Why, do I detect, a new found warmth, in your voice?” He told her about recent events? What had happened, how Corky had chastised him. “Who dares, to be so impertinent.“ He handed the coms unit to Corky. Onscreen, her eyes barely believing what they were seeing. .“Corky!!”
He looked at her, her tone of voice had changed, something Iophan noted immediately. “My brother misses you. As I missed you. Fruc does not ask, nor mention you, but I see the look in his eyes when your name is mentioned. HE MISSES you. To think the things, you used to get up to, WE used to get up to.“ She smiled.
“I am happy, very happy, knowing my son, is in your hands. This Margise? A Lady I am told, not of Royal lineage.” Corky nodded. “Still you weren’t either Corky, were you, and I would have married you in a heartbeat. Seems I will NOT stand in my son’s way if he so chooses, but I ask of you, make sure, he does NOT win his prize easily.” She looks at Iophan.
“Do as you’re told. I expect no nonsense from you, where Corky is concerned, or to hear, that you have been disobedient. Or disrespectful.“ Iophan scrunched his lips, trying not to grin and trying to sound serious. “Yes Mama.“ Corky smiled “Margise will not say yes, so easily, but I will make sure, even if he has to wait, it is not, because she thinks too little, of herself. She is fit, to be a Queen.”
“Just as you were to be a King, just make sure it happens this time. When Iophan returns home, I expect you. to make yourself known to me. personally. Now I would leave you, I would surprise my brother with the news! To see the look on his face will indeed be something not to be missed! I will let Gharow know all is well. Keep me up to date on what is happening, I miss you so much!“ The holographic screen went blank. Corky reset the Tmail unit.
“So you were the commoner. my mother, almost married.” Prince Iophan looked at Corky. “She would have married you, but you walked away, because you thought, you, were not good enough. Yet my Uncle Fru and Gharow, have always said, you had the manners and the countenance of all that a King should be.“ He moved in closer to Corky.
“Please, please, make sure Margise does not, make the same mistake, you did.“ His voice tailed off, as Corky moved, towards the hatch. “I, must go, talk to the council. Even at this late hour, meanwhile rest. Don’t worry about Margise. Concentrate, on HOW you, will prove to her, you are worthy of her love. You do not have to convince me.“
Corky, was not happy, about disturbing the Council Elect. There, had been some bad feeling between certain members over the incident of the caves. Two of them had thought the pre training given to the Kets had been lacking. Due to certain ‘adjudicators’ NOT doing their job. It would not be the opinion of the majority. They felt the Kets would learn an invaluable life lesson from it, likewise their counterparts, once they started talking amongst themselves. To some it might seem amusing but it would be remembered!
