The Bxfa was targeting her. She shoved forward, putting all her weight behind the disc as it slid into the second module. There was a click and a flare of light. DONE!
In the central control room, there was more activity amongst those present. “How soon can we.“ Corky shifted to remove some panels, finally unfastening them, he pulled out a unit did some adjustments to it, before he slotted it back in.
The screen illuminated, on the unit module the tiny beads of energy flickered then flashed. The screen was displaying an error message. ‘Core power dissipation imminent, switching to new power module links.‘ “Back up power. That will take a while for it to access. It has to check that the power modules are fully functional before it links to them. Time enough for us.“ Corky moved to one of the main control screens, illuminated it and let his fingers dart across it.
“Long enough until it resets its primary core, for us to slip the Vigilant into place.” He stepped over to one of the panels, removed that and inserted a disc almost identical to the one that Sephra had activated into the module. “The screen was displaying code, "That’s very old code, all that will generate is.“ Nabishi’s voice died away as all of them watched a figure forming onscreen within the game? “A Vigilant generate series 1. But the system?“
“Will treat it as insignificant, because the system now, was never designed to see outdated programming that has been superseded as being a threat. To it, it is irrelevant and therefore NOT a security risk, thus allowing it to run its sub routines. Designed to operate when it was first produced for gaming, at a much slower speed. In this system, it will be subsonic! Almost light speed. By the time the system does wake up and realize the truth, the deed will have been done. Corrupting the programming used to create the data array, that the hostile is using, help us seize the Crystal and close the game down."
"So the system will allow its existence, simply because it exists, yet it does not KNOW WHY, it exists! It is beyond its Realt REAL TIME, comprehension, SIMPLE yet too stupid, too smart for the SOPHISTICATED CORE of the Ultra Realt 7?" Corky grinned. "It’s a bit like having a Rait (Humana Rat) chewing at it’s optic energy couplers. It knows it’s doing it, can sense it but can do nothing to stop it! “We’ve done it!“ There was a cheer from the Kets. “So what are those things with her?” “Rombots they’ll delete anything that gets in their way erase them clearing a path for her to where the Crystal is held.“
“Zoloids.” From the edges rippling out towards the Rombots and the Vigilant the things shaped liked distorted hexagonal shapes bunched in only to be erased by the Rombots. Erasing them at lightning speed, thousands of them, in seconds to us, GONE! “Yessssss.“ Another big cheer from the Kets looking on.
The Gaisek had detected interference. Furious? On a level to it and, with knowledge of the tech it was using? Yet it, was just as cunning! Let’s not forget the Gaisek was older and probably age wise, not far off Corky in years? Though we know it had NOT aged in appearance. It’s knowledge, of the old technologies, was as good as Corky’s? It instantly, recognized the Vigilant AND the potential threat it posed. Even if the Gaisek was surprised to see it. Someone was playing the odds, on a fairly equal level.
All the more of a challenge to it! It analyzed the outcome, it watched things going on, that were characteristic of an almost subversive attack on the sub systems, which could only mean one thing, the Vigilant was out to destroy the Crystal. The Gaisek reasoned that destabilizing the Rombots was easy and it’s trojan anti virus, soon started attacking, eating away at the Rombots structures, until they were almost nothing. Only the main adversary its enemy now remained as the Gaisek activated the second of its clean up campaign!
A creature, LOOKING to us as something resembling, King Kong! Appeared in front of the Vigilant? Proceeded to attack it. Beating it with it’s fists before devouring it? A long drawn out burp! They could see it eyes peering at them from the main screen, it’s hideous face pressed up against the screen, the skin distorted. The tongue out licking across it. It was so realistic, it actually seemed like it had a tongue against the inside of the screen! It coughed. A thick yellowy white sludge of spit spat out. Sticking to the screen. The creature vanished.
"Oh that is grose!" “That is so. Disgusting.“ Ameiva howls as the rest of the Kets burst out laughing. “That reminds me of an old Humana Renais arcade game. King Kong.“ Suddenly, the screen flickered, the sludge gone. Across the screen digits for the teams, showed 1000 merits added, then 200 merits removed? “Did you see that. It took 200 merits OFF their scores for the creature having indigestion!.“
