Opticons are VISUAL SEARCH and IDENTIFICATION modules. Free floating spheres that contain various inbuilt, highly sophisticated technology. Some adaptive elements allow for different sensors and optical inserts depending on light levels and areas where adaptive infra red or Xeniu screening is required. All sub terrain based Opticons have inbuilt chemical and gas sensors to detect levels that may be deemed dangerous or mildly hallucinogenic.
Variance in frequencies and or light wave optics are also detected by Class 4 Opticons. They DO NOT have weapons or weapons arrays, BUT do have a special response sensor, that detects and prevents weapons use on them, by deflection of the energy thrown at them. HOWEVER it IS a known fact that a second wave of sufficient power, WILL destroy the Opticon. Energy consumed to maintain its shield will deplete, to a level where it will take at least 5 minutes Earth time, to fully recharge the core modules.
Surface Opticon devices, are often seen, deployed around the Akademy to monitor the activities of the Kets. Central control systems are alerted if ANY illegal activity is discovered taking place OR physical confrontations and or violence is in play. Opticons DO have a language vocoder audio and pitch frequency modulation unit, allowing the controller, to use the sound unit to give warning to Kets, whilst in close proximity to them.
Monicons are a variant of the original Opticon. Developed to have an offensive capability and a much smarter defence shield with three inner power cores that alternate using phasing technology, so that no one core is completely depleted at any one time. The weapons units, vary, depending on WHERE they’re used and by WHOM they’re deployed. The most common weapon is a rotating laser that fires a variable energy beam, the strength of which is determined by the preset intu or remote controller.
Intu controllers are operated by the Monicon itself. IF, it detects a threat, it will respond to it, by first analysing the threat and then using the level of force required to cancel out that threat. Monicons on auto, will ONLY terminate the life of an organic life-form or what is a known non organic threat, in extreme circumstances where it may be protecting i.e Kets from attack. Monicons can, be controlled REMOTELY.
Where they are used for patrol purposes, an illegal activity carried out by Kets and recognised for what it is, with no doubt at all as to what is happening. Those in the control area can decide on what to do next. They can Initiate a first level response which sees the Kets involved being sedated for them to collapse unable to move, but their life force NOT affected beyond a STUN level. Initiate a second level response that gives the Kets warnings before it takes a 1st level response. Hurdle or huddle offenders, by firing warning shots close to them and warning them NOT to move whilst others are called to detain them.
Usually DRUG or DRINK related offences. Mark them by using a spray agent that does NOT come off for weeks afterwards. That is what the Akademy calls a shame tactic, as it clearly indicates to other Kets, that those Kets were doing something they should NOT have been doing, that was technically illegal. THIS does NOT occur unless they have already been warned at least twice, about their activities. Such activities can be illegal Renais trading, gambling and similar.
